Name of the Project

Local Estonian Healthy Food Experience

Summary of the project

As part of the project, new tourism products were developed, such as taster excursions that included activities like cooking with a guide, sourcing vegetables from fields or forests, and learning environmentally sustainable practices to reduce kitchen waste. Participants were introduced to the Estonian tradition of foraging ("korilus") and learned to identify edible forest plants while exploring traditional dishes made from mushrooms and vegetables. These activities highlighted the importance of a healthy and sustainable diet.

The SME was pleased with the project’s results and saw opportunities to further develop tourism products focused on environmental sustainability and waste reduction, which also helped Põnka Holiday House stand out. The project showcased Estonia’s rich traditions of foraging, mushroom picking, herb gathering, and food preservation, passing down these cultural practices to guests. Blogging allowed the SME to share insights into Estonia’s indigenous culture, further engaging visitors.

Additionally, the website was published in English with direct reservation functionality, complemented by new images that highlighted the uniqueness of existing and new tourism products, making them more accessible and appealing to potential guests.
