Barnabrow House

Summary of the project

The focus for Barnabrow was promoting the accommodation side of the business and the function room for weddings, celebrations.

The website needed some careful messaging around the restaurant promotion as it is not open daily, but an important feature and necessity for special events.

This was addressed and wording removed so that overnight guests didn’t have an expectation that there is a restaurant on site. Also, the wording “Sunday lunch” was removed.

There was an issue with direct booking and via booking.com.  It is planned to revise their pricing structure in Autumn, to be ready for Jan 2025 bookings and to ensure that going direct is cheaper than booking.com

There is a lot to do locally but the owner  prefers to inform guests when they arrive, rather than promoting it on the website.

Digital/ Marketing

Messaging on the website has been changed to demonstrate that the restaurant is not open daily. It is open only for special occasions and events.  Barnabrow House is confident in its own business promotion and knowing their own guests needs. It has made a decision not to link in with local activities or marketing organisations such as Visit Cork, Failte Ireland and Ring of Cork online. However, Barnabrow does and will engage in person with the agencies for networking events.

Soft & Social

Geraldine is now a more active member of Ring of Cork and attends the EuroCluster meetings. She is also a member of The East Cork EuroCluster WhatsApp group. This was created for the SME’s for ease of guest referrals and for passing on important business related information as well as neighbourhood alerts.

Green & Sustainable

Barnabrow House, has it’s own organic garden where most of the produce comes from and promotes a seasonal menu, which she promotes on the website.
