Autumn in the Forest & Life in Slitere in Winter: Along the Winding River Mazirbe
Summary of the project
Two themed nature hiking routes have been established, each offering unique experiences and insights into the natural processes of Slītere National Park. The "Autumn in the Forest" route, led by a professional biologist, explored the Košrags village area, focusing on autumn nature phenomena such as fungi, animal traces, moss, and lichen. The tour attracted 9 participants per excursion.
The second route, "Life in Slītere in Winter: Along the Winding River Mazirbe," guided by a nature expert, traversed challenging coastal terrain and highlighted winter nature processes, including animal traces and various bird species. This tour attracted 19 participants.
Future tasks involve developing and testing additional routes, as well as marketing and promoting these hiking experiences to nature-responsible tourists interested in natural processes. The goal is to attract more overnight tourists and encourage them to combine their stay at guest houses with nature excursions, thereby extending the tourism season in the region.
